Reserves are trained through the Academy and after 6 months on the floor are certified as a Fire Fighter II
Reserve Fire Fighter training is provided by the Boulder City Fire Department via a cadet fire academy. The fire academy is held one day per week (Saturday) to allow candidates to maintain their regular jobs.
Reserve Fire Fighters work in place of full-time Fire Fighters to cover for vacation, sick leave, special events, and are also called in on a regular basis via a pager call-back system, to add to the on-duty work force during an extended incident.
Reserve Fire Fighters are paid for time worked, required training, and for special events coverage. Reserve pay is minimum wage.
Reserves must serve a minimum of 48 hours per month with the department.
Reserve Fire Fighters are eligible to be considered for a career position in the Boulder City Fire Department.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a Nevada Certified E.M.T - Intermediate, or E.M.T. - Paramedic (Intermediate certification must be obtained prior to the academy selection).
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a valid Nevada drivers license.
Must be able to commit to a Fire Academy (Saturdays only).
You must live in the Southern Nevada area (Boulder City, Henderson area preferred). Preference will be given to Boulder City residents.
Nevada Firefighter I Certification required.
