Boulder City Police Department has an excellent P/T Police Officer Program. P/T Officers give over 12,000 hours a year to the Police Department, enabling more Police Officers to be available on the street and to the community. The Police Department also offers its unique Citizen's Academy Program.
Part-Time Police Officer Program
The Boulder City Police Department is assisted in its mission by the P/T Police Officer Program. The P/T officers are composed of men and women dedicated to providing a service to our community.
P/T Officers Perform A Variety Of Tasks Within The Police Department
Patrol: Work patrol assignments as either a partner with a F/T officer or as a solo P/T officer (depending on State certification and successfully passing the FTEP program).
Conduct investigations: Assist the Investigations Bureau.
Special Events: Providing crowd and traffic control.
Prisoner Transports: To and from area jails for court in Boulder City.
On Call: To assist the Police Department in the event an emergency exists.
Community Service: Supervise adults and juveniles who have been sentenced with community service hours. Community service is performed within the Boulder City limits.
Warrant Services: Follow up on warrants issued by the courts in Boulder City. In most cases, the officers will give the fugitive an opportunity to answer the warrant(s) if the bail amount is paid in full. Otherwise the officer will place the individual under arrest and transport the person to Henderson Jail or Clark County Detention Center.
F/T Officer Robert Woolsey is the coordinator for this effort.
P/T police officers are paid $14.07 an hour. The selection process for P/T officers is similar to that of a F/T (full time) police officer. Applicants for P/T police officer must be certified as either Category I or Category II Nevada peace officers, prior to applying.
If you are interested in becoming a P/T police officer for the City of Boulder City, you must obtain an application from the Personnel Department at City Hall or by accessing the Human Resources link. All applications must be turned into the City of Boulder City Human Resources Department at 401 California Street, Boulder City, Nevada. Applicants will then be required to participate in an oral interview, with successful candidates undergoing an intensive background check. The Police Department is dedicated to providing professional P/T police officers to assist its citizens. If you feel you have an interest in this program, please contact the Human Resources Department for further information or obtain an application from City Hall to begin the process.
